On 10–11 October 2024, the partners of the GBS – Empowering Citizens’ Self-Employment in Green Business project came together in Palermo, Italy, for a two-day transnational meeting hosted by CESIE. The gathering provided an opportunity to review progress, finalise key deliverables, and plan the next phase of activities.
Discussions centred on strengthening the project’s practical tools and resources for adult educators and senior learners. Highlights included exploring storytelling as a way to showcase inspiring senior Green Business success stories, testing an interactive game on Green Business skills, and peer reviewing the Green Business Skills Matrix. The partners also prepared the upcoming e-Guide “Growing My Competences to Start a Green Business” which will provide valuable guidance for both learners and mentors.
As part of the meeting, the consortium launched a comprehensive set of motivational resources now freely available on the project website. These include presentations on the opportunities and challenges for seniors in Green Business, ten personal success stories from across partner countries, and a collection of best practices presented through media-based storytelling. Learners can also try out the interactive quiz “My Personal Skills and Strengths to Start Green Business – How to Develop Them” to reflect on their own entrepreneurial potential. Together, these resources are designed to inspire and equip senior citizens to take their first steps toward sustainable self-employment.
The Palermo meeting marked an important milestone for the GBS project, strengthening collaboration among partners and ensuring that the next stages will deliver meaningful support for seniors exploring green entrepreneurship.
