The European Erasmus+ project “UpSpace” has now entered its pilot phase, with newly developed learning modules being tested in real classroom settings together with students. The aim is to trial and further develop innovative approaches to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in everyday school practice.
The first module focuses on climate change and the carbon footprint, with a particular emphasis on how our diet impacts the climate. Students explore the environmental effects of different foods and reflect on their own consumption habits.
Using interactive methods and real-life examples, complex relationships are made easier to understand while strengthening students’ competencies to act sustainably. At the same time, the pilot phase provides valuable insights for improving the materials, which will be used in an international context.
With the start of this testing phase, the UpSpace project takes an important step toward practical and effective sustainability education across Europe.
