“Bonus” DREAMM Mentor Training in Altwarmbüchen

Blinc organised a second DREAMM training session for volunteers and staff at Caspo e.V. in Altwarmbüchen on 12 October, 2022 in an effort to offer partial DREAMM Mentor Training to participants who have already become involved in implementing DREAMM activities but who were not involved with the project when the initial mentor training was carried out. The main subject covered was intercultural mediation.

DREAMM Workshop: Frisbee at the Schillerwiesen

One of our DREAMM Lead Mentors organised a field trip to the „Schillerwiesen“ in Göttingen for BUPNET language course participants as part of the DREAMM project’s „Familiarising with the Place“ module.  The main goal of the trip was to show participants a part of Göttingen that they were not familiar with and give them the chance to try out a new sport—Disc Golf.

DREAMM Workshop: Frisbee Club at the Weststadtfest

The Discgolf Club Göttingen attended the Weststadtfest after being invited by DREAMM Lead Mentors to show attendees their sport and give them information about how sports clubs work in Germany.  A wide variety of residents of the western city and visitors tried out the sport and spoke with club members and DREAMM volunteers about sports in Germany.

DREAMM Being A Citizen Workshop in Hannover: Sprengelmuseum

As part of a DREAMM workshop designed to bring Germans and non-Germans together for field trips to historically and culturally relevant places in and around Hannover, an international and multicultural group set out for the “Sprengelmuseum” on August 27th to view and discuss a photography exhibition called “zu Hause” (home), which features the photographic work of a variety of artists largely focused on the phenomenon of forced migration.

DREAMM Intercultural Field Trip to the “Heilpflanzengarten” in Celle

Another DREAMM intercultural field trip, part of the DREAMM project component “Familiarising with the Place”, took place on 18.06.2022.  This time, our DREAMM project mentors chose the “Heilpflanzengarten” in Celle, a botanical garden specialising in plants with medicinal benefits according to traditional and modern medicine. 14 people joined the field trip, including both Germans and people from Iran, Iraq, Guatemala and Columbia.  The group took the train to Celle using Germany’s popular “9-euro-ticket”.  Despite 30 degree heat, participants thoroughly enjoyed…

DREAMM “One-Stop-Shop” in Altwarmbüchen

In cooperation with the local nonprofit organisation Caspo e.V. , DREAMM Lead Mentor  H.-C. Fröhlich began providing weekly orientation and counseling services to newly-arrived Ukrainian refugees from Caspo’s „GRATA“ office in Altwarmbüchen.  The counseling services, which began on April 8th, 2022,  are available by appointment every Friday.

DREAMM Being a Citizen Workshop: Intercultural Museum Visit

17 participants from Germany, Armenia, Columbia, Guatamala and Iraq joined the intercultural field trip to the “Textile Museum” in Hannover, organised by DREAMM project mentors in Altwarmbüchen.  The trip was part of the project’s “Being a Citzen” Workshop series, and was designed to help participants appreciate certain lesser-known aspects of local and national history.

DREAMM – Field Trip to the “Castle Garden” in Hannover-Herrenhausen

As part of the DREAMM project’s “Familiarizing with the Place” workshops, two DREAMM mentors in Hannover-Altwarmbüchen organised and led an excursion for a group of participants of German and non-German origin to the “Berggarten” (Castle Garden) in Hannover-Herrenhausen. After 4 intensive days of training, we congratulate 18 people on their new title as DREAMM mentors!! They will assist the integration process between newly arrived migrants coming from countries outside the European Union and members from the local community. Congratulations!
