Climate change remains one of the most pressing global challenges. In response, Europe is advancing concrete actions aligned with the EU Green Deal and the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The UPSPACE project supports this transition by promoting the integration of environmental education as a core element of school curricula.
Why UPSPACE?
UPSPACE is more than an educational initiative—it represents a cultural shift towards sustainability, beginning in the classroom. The project is designed to:
- Support a cultural transformation: Encouraging a mindset change that extends beyond economic models to foster sustainable thinking from a young age.
- Empower educators and learners: By designing forward-looking curricula, UPSPACE equips teachers and learners aged 12–16 with the green skills needed to address environmental challenges.
- Foster school-based communities of practice: Creating a European network for schools to collaborate, exchange best practices, and drive sustainable development at local and transnational levels.
What to Expect
In the coming months, UPSPACE will launch a series of innovative learning experiences, including training programmes, interactive e-learning content, and practical activities focused on upcycling and urban regeneration. The project will:
- Strengthen green skills and sustainable behaviours.
- Translate theoretical knowledge into practice through engaging workshops and labs.
- Promote bottom-up urban regeneration by actively involving local communities.
Through these actions, UPSPACE aims to inspire systemic change in education and to prepare the next generation of sustainability leaders.
