In December, Palermo hosted the inaugural partner meeting of the UPSPACE project—an important milestone marking the formal start of our collaborative efforts towards a more sustainable future. UPSPACE aims to embed green skills into school curricula and promote urban regeneration as a strategy for fostering sustainable communities.
This first in-person meeting was an opportunity for partners to connect, align on project objectives, and begin shaping a shared vision. We were pleased to welcome our partners from across Europe, each contributing valuable expertise and a strong commitment to sustainability:
- blinc eG (Germany) is leading the development of the Upcycling Workshop Booklet and Urban Regeneration Lab Guidelines, which will serve as core resources for the project.
- RUZ will work closely with blinc eG to support the national implementation of practical, sustainability-focused activities.
- CESIE, Stimmuli, and Appworks are responsible for recruiting and subcontracting sustainability experts, ensuring high-quality facilitation of both workshops and labs.
- Educational Institutions, including ISEP, Mihailo Petrović Alas 5th Gymnasium of Thessaloniki, and Förderverein RUZ Reinhausen, will host hands-on activities and act as local hubs for the project’s green initiatives.
Beyond project planning, the meeting served as a crucial step in establishing a strong foundation of collaboration. The enthusiasm, creativity, and mutual commitment demonstrated in Palermo have already set a positive tone for the project’s implementation.
We look forward to continuing this productive collaboration and to sharing further updates as UPSPACE progresses towards delivering tangible impact in sustainability education and urban transformation.
